Update and upcoming shows
All,
Apologize for the long delay in updating the blog, but we have been very busy building frames for customers in the last several months. I hope to get some photos up of all the frames we have built recently up soon.
We will be up in Dallas next Saturday at a handmade bike show at the velodrome in Frisco. Here is the details on that show:

I know that I said my next post would be some more about the bikes we took to the NAHBS but this was just too cool (for me!).
My oldest son started riding his bike last April and has been progessing very well. He's done some of the kids cup races at our local weekly crit, we road singletrack for the first time during the holidays and lately we've been working on some of his skilz in our driveway. I've told myself that I don't ever want to be "that dad" and I understand very well that this whole thing is more like a marathon than a sprint. However if he is willing and eager...then I'm happy to oblidge! :)
So after he mastered the line of 2x4s in our driveway which replicated studder bumps, he kept asking for more. Flashing back to my own early childhood BMX days I decided to build him a ramp. Yes this was all done in secret behind mom's back. We slowly worked up his speed and height and viola(!) my lil guy is actually jumping his bike! Dang I'm a proud papa!

True Fabrication makes it "big time"
...well not exactly but that's kinda what it feel like when you see your stuff covered in cyclingnews.com! Someone forwarded me a link to some photos that featured us on the cycling news civerage of the hand made bike show. There were over 150 exhibitors at the show and many builders to choose from, considering that we ended up on the "photo list" is very much a compliment.
Yesterday I had the chance to take some photos of 2 of our show bikes. I'll soon post up some background info on the bikes we took to the show.

Head is still spinning
We got back from the show late Monday evening after 4+ days in Portland. It was sooo much work but soooo much fun. Our voices were hoarse after just one day of talking all day. Our feet were sore and we were tired of living on coffee and Burgerville burgers. However, I will say, the show was a huge success. The people were amazingly nice and appreciative of our work and the amount of builder talent in the convention center was overwhelming.

Of the four bikes we brought to the show, the "rat rod" 29er and the blue fixie commuter with wood inlay flower rack were the ones that stole the show. Cole's road bike turned out so well and he's very eager to ride it, but when put up against all the other super custom hand crafted pieces of art (I'm not refering to our own bikes), it tended to get overlooked. Joe's SS 29er did get some accolades and a handful of pics from passers by, but it to was dwarfed by the magnitude of the show. Conversely though, our other 2 bikes very much held their own. We were all humbled by the amount of compliments we received from other builders and leaders in our industry. To have John Castellano, James Bleakley, and Joe Bell tell you "nice work" was very much worth the price of entry!
Over the next few day's I'll post up some details and photos of the bikes we took to the show. Our shipping container with all of our loot should arrive on Monday. Our plan is to get everything unpacked, put back together, and then have a "Happy Hour" open house at the shop (next weekend?). This will give the locals a chance to see what we took to the show and also check out some other locally owned TF bikes.

I was just given the green light yesterday to make the announcement!
True Fab will be one of only a few builders at the show unveiling the new Cane Creek Wood Inlay Headset. Our model will be a Titanium 1 1/8" press-in headset with a Mahogany Inlay, retailing for $650. This headset will be on our geared 29er, trust me, you won't miss it. True Fabrication is heading to the bike show!!!
Last night we got everything broken down, boxed up and put into our crate. We were up til about 1am finishing up what has been nearly 2 weeks worth of everyday work. Remember, since we have full-time jobs other than building bike frames, this means we've been pulling late nights every night for almost 2 weeks. We are glad its over and our families are too. We think we have put together a very nice cross representation of what True Fab does and is capable of doing.
We will be taking the following bikes to the show:
-Geared 29er mtn bike, with a very radical paint job.
-SS 29er mtn bike
-Fixed gear commuer w/a custom rack
-55cm compact frame road bike
Each one of these bikes have their own little touches and nuances so come by the show and check us out.
